How To Be Alone - an 800-mile hike on the Arizona Trail
In 2017, with very little prior backpacking experience, I set out to solo hike all 800 miles of the rugged Arizona Trail.
What is it like to walk all day, every day, completely alone? Why does someone choose a hard thing? How do we become better friends to ourselves? What about snakes, mountain lions, dehydration, exhaustion, and safety as a woman in the wilderness? I started this hike with so many questions, and underneath them all was this one: What do we find when push ourselves further than ever before?
It is a privilege to be able to choose your suffering. This full-length trail journal tells the whole story of the 44 days when I chose mine, and it is available now in a pay-what-you-can format. Simply choose the price that you can afford, pay, and it's yours!
